It’s a bit strange to see, that “Handbags” and “Gladrags” as well are written in two words on this CD.As writer Michael d’Abo is written on the label of the CD by Gary Burton, who was born in January 1943 in Indiana. “Hand Bags And Glad Rags” lasts 6 minutes.
This album dating from 1971 is in two parts. The first three tracks were recorded at Montreux Jazz Festival in June and the four others produced in the studio in New York three months later. By the magic of multi-tracking, Gary Burton improvised with himself on three pieces, like in a game of mirrors, blending with vibraphone to the acoustic piano, the electric piano and the organ.
