Gene Pitney is the only artist who covered a Mike d'Abo song from the Manfred
Mann period of Mike: "Country Dancing". Manfred Mann put this Mike d'Abo song on
the album "Mighty Garvey" in 1968, so in fact Gene Pitney released the song
earlier than Manfred Mann.
Another strange thing about the Gene Pitney version is, that Tony Hazzard/Mike
d'Abo are mentioned as writers on the 2CD set.
The 2CD set are in fact two albums from the U.S.A., but so far I didn't trace
the catalogue number of this release.
"Country Dancing" is another up-tempo songs from Mike, and Gene Pitney is doing a fine job with this song, even though he's at his very best when singing ballads.
