The Mike Stuart Span was Stuart Hobday (vocals), Roger McCabe (bass), Gary Murphy (drums), John Poulter (organ), Gary Parsley (trumpet) and Dave Plump (saxophone) and they came from Brighton. On this song Dave Paramour (nephew of Columbia boss Norrie Paramour) played the guitar.

This cover of "Invitation", which was written by Mike d'Abo, was probably the first cover ever to be released of a Mike d'Abo song. The single is very hard to find, also because the a-side "Dear" was written by Cat Stevens. I have the demonstration copy of the single, and on the label Cat Stevens is misspelled as Cat Stephens.
